EMILY IN THE EAST 🟢🔴⚫️

Northern Ireland international Emily Wilson seeming out of nowhere has agreed a deal that shall see her swap the red and black of Crusaders Strikers for the green and black of Glentoran Women.

The 2022 campaign was another productive one for the 21 year old striker who netted 13 times in 16 league appearances helping Crusaders Strikers to a 3rd place finish and taking her overall league tally to an impressive 31 in 44 games.

In September Emily's performances and goalscoring exploits was rewarded as she was named Danske Bank Women's Premiership player of the month which saw her net 5 times as Crusaders charged up the table with a string of great results.

This move comes as Glentoran Women look to strengthen their squad after loosing the league title to Cliftonville Ladies in what could be seen as a disappointing year in comparison to 2021 where they captured an impressive treble.

Emily shall link up with fellow Northern Ireland striker Kerry Beattie in what shall be seen as an old school 'little and large' partnership with Kerry herself only re-establishing herself back into the squad after a spell in Scotland with Glasgow City.

With pre-season underway and the structure of the women's premiership vastly changing this coming season it is fair to say this could only be the start of big name moves as a number of players shall be signed onto pro and semi-pro contracts which could widen the gulf in what is already a two tiered league between the financially stronger and established clubs and those less developed.
