Belfast Council reject Sinn Fein's proposal for funds to support the Euro Schools Championships

Sinn Féin Ireland's proposal to support the IABA Ulster/Antrim Boards bid for funding to host the European School Boys/Girls Championship in Belfast did not pass tonight.
The motion now has been deferred to next month.

In a statement by the Ulster Boxing Council they quoted...
"We are very very disappointed that additional funding was not agreed tonight at Belfast City Council in support of Belfast City hosting the European Schools boy and school girls championships 2020.
The first major amateur boxing event to come to the city in almost 20 years.
An event that will bring 1.5/2million to the City’s economy.
An event that will bring 10,000+ visitors over the 10 day event.An event that has never came to this city before."
